First day at work - information overload - arriving home feeling tired and hungry (but happy) - Brussels rainy as ever - looking forward to getting stuck into some interpreting - a bit scared of that idea as well - feeling a bit too busy to write a proper entry - normal service hopefully resumed soon...
But before I forget - there was the extra nice moment of getting my security pass with mugshot, European flag and the word 'interpreter' on it. It's the little things in life, sometimes...
Posted by Eurodan at October 6, 2003 8:31 PMDon't worry too much. Just remember that if you can't do it then no-one can :-)
Posted by: Shyboy at October 6, 2003 9:01 PMThat's not so little, Dan. It's quite an achievement in itself, and possibly the start of a glittering* career.
*You are wearing that red sequinned suit to interpret in, aren't you?
But of course! And always with a nice brooch. After all - you never know if the nice delegates are married...

Dan,
Really pleased your first day went well! A little bird told me 'tu avais l'air bien fier' after you got your badge, and rightly so! Keep on socking it to 'em. xxx
Posted by: leah at October 7, 2003 1:23 PMIs fraternising with the (unmarried) delegates allowed? Don't you have a doctor-patient or teacher-student type relationship with those you interpret for? ;-)
Posted by: Shyboy at October 8, 2003 6:18 PMHmm... that's a very good question... I think you may be right! That just leaves the other interpreters then, I guess...
Posted by: Eurodan at October 8, 2003 7:14 PMAre the "unmarried" disproportianately represented amongst interpreters?
Posted by: Shyboy at October 10, 2003 7:30 PMI couldn't possibly comment about that ;-)
