So what have I been doing then? Why haven't I been writing?

Hard to say, really.

I went to Berlin for a few days, and I have to say that it's one of those cities which charms the pants off me. I could live there at the drop of a hat. It's not just that it's a big, German city (although that is part of it). It's also so easy to be in. It's about the size of London with half the people - so there's a tremendous sense of space. And then there's all the history, and a real sense of being at the epicentre of the new Germany - the Berlin republic, as it's now so often being called.

Since then I've been here in Brussels - mostly going out and having a good time, I have to admit. (Vacuous, me?). I don't mean to sound smug, but life here in many respects is pretty good for me at the moment. Fingers crossed that it stays that way...
