The wedding was fantastic, by the way. I'm getting the pictures developed today, so soon you'll all be able to see just how beautiful my sister Rachel looked.
We're having a mini-heatwave here in Brussels at the moment. Last night I ended up in town having a drink (well, it wasn't planned - it just sort of happened...) and it seemed that the whole city was out on the streets. Our little Brussels "gay village" was heaving, needless to say, and there's something special about the atmosphere of the first really warm evenings of the year. A feeling of excitement, a sort of giddiness. It's probably an illusion, but suddenly life seems full of new possibilities, and it's time to try new things... like my friend Charles' boyfriend Diego's home-made sangria - which is why the evening took on a momentum of its own in the first place!
And all that from someone who doesn't like hot weather!
Anyway - tomorrow, Sunday, the weather is set to break, which seems quite appropriate for the French referendum on the constitution. I'm planning to watch the results from the European Parliament press room (if my lowly Commission interpreter's pass will get me in), and afterwards I shall politely refrain from joining the irate band of distraught Eurocrats marching towards the French Permanent Representation building in Brussels with molotov cocktails...
